The Royton Trail

The 17th edition of The Royton Trail took place on Wednesday 10th July 2024.

This is a popular 6.4-mile multi-terrain race over an undulating mainly rural course, starting and finishing at Royton Cricket Club (OL2 5TX) with toilets, changing and bar on site. Limited parking, but plenty more available nearby in the car park on Radcliffe Street (OL2 6RH). The race is chip-timed, with prizes presented immediately after the race.

The Royton Trail race was first held on 18th July 2007, with a field of 72 runners.
The first race winners were David Lockett (Salford Harriers) & Lisa Heyes (Horwich RMI Harriers).

 

The race has grown in popularity over subsequent years, with 261 finishers on 10th July 2024 - when Rob James (Royton Road Runners) recorded a record-breaking sixth TRT victory & Martha Tibbot (Saddleworth Runners) won the ladies race for the second time, beating the (current) course record she set in 2022.
